Laura Matikainen

Laura Matikainen is a director, animator, and graphic video artist based in Antwerp, Belgium. Originally from Finland, she studied Visual Communication Design at Aalto University before independently pursuing animation.

Specializing in collage animation (2D), she crafts digital, rhythmic, and surreal mini-worlds by blending old magazine clippings with green screen elements. Her work balances commercial and artistic projects, often exploring culture, music, and retro-futuristic aesthetics.

Her animations hypnotize viewers with trippy, absurd fantasy settings, pushing visual boundaries while playfully detaching from reality.
